WELCOME!

We’re glad you found us on the web. We invite you to find us also in person!
Gethsemane Lutheran is a congregation in the city, on our way. Although our downtown Seattle building is currently under construction on the corner of 9th and Stewart, Gethsemane continues to gather for worship, study, and service while the project continues.

  All are welcome: people who have been to church (any church) their whole lives, as well as those who never have been or have been away for a while;
people filled with doubts or questions and those whose faith and hope run deep;
people longing to find a community of belonging and anyone who may simply be "passing by"...

There is a place for you wherever you are in your spiritual journey.

Until spring 2012, our worship services are held at 1900 Ninth Avenue in an 11th floor conference room of Seattle Children's Research Institute. Someone will meet you at the building entrance to help you find your way upstairs.

We worship on Sundays at 10am.
On December 24th we will gather for a traditional Christmas Eve service at 4pm.
(On both Christmas Day and New Year's Day, we still gather for worship be at 10am.)

Gethsemane's worship is liturgical -- we follow ancient patterns that
gather us to reflect on God's Word, share a meal, and send us in service of our neighbors' needs.

Gethsemane's worship is contextual -- we listen to current voices that
help us to know the needs of local and global communities, and invite us to engage more deeply with our whole lives.

Before worship each week (except December 25 and January 1), an adult group gathers from 9-9:45am for study on various topics, usually led by our pastor, Rev. Joanne Engquist. See the calendar for details. No prior experience is necessary and all are welcome to drop-in at any time.

If you would like to know more about the Gethsemane community--especially about our worship or study--please contact Pr. Joanne Engquist by email or phone (206.682.3620).
