The Campaign Axiom: No Mission, No Money -- No Money, No Mission |
| |
For more than 125 years Gethsemane Lutheran Church has been funding its lead gift to kick off this campaign. Think about the commitment of this organization to the City of Seattle - $8 million in the past year alone in in-kind gifts and seed money. And all of this to make sure that the mission promise was delivered with gusto, in good time, and adequately funded.
Plenty of mission, plenty of spirit, plenty of time and a tidy sum to support this undertaking. With this witness unmasked, now is the time to invite those who are best able to come forward and answer our $4.5 million call to action - a call that reverberates with hope and solutions for literally thousands over the next decade. This is an invitation that arrives with a shout of urgency, yet with a calm reassurance of stewardship and accountability.
Who takes up this gauntlet? Who answers the cry of a child and a mother’s weeping? Who provides sustenance and shelter for the veteran on the street? Who remembers these souls? Who takes the time? Who helps them break the cycle if you don’t? And who renews the proud heritage of Seattle as The Emerald City, a community of hope, promise, and opportunity, a community that prides itself on its quality of life…a community that takes care of those most in need? Provocative and probing questions, these. Hope, renewal, answers, promise, opportunity, heritage - the words that resonate and ring out from the Gethsemane campus.
So how do we respond to the campaign axiom? With a smorgasbord of designated gift opportunities totaling $4.5 million. Questions: From whom do we think we are going to raise these funds and how long will it take and how will we spend them and what difference does it make? The answers lie in your heart.
Take the Time - Break the Cycle. |
